HS Trustees Ltd are Independent Trustees & Professional Corporate Sole Trustee (PCST).

Trusteeship has for many years been provided by employers (employer nominated), lay trustees (member nominated) and professional trustees (on an individual basis). The increasing requirements for Pension Scheme Governance introduced via the Pension Schemes Act 2021 and the Pension Regulators General Code of Practice, effective 28 March 2024, raise the bar, the risk and the cost.

HS Trustees Ltd provide a way to apply the regulations in a practical and proportionate way by providing fully Accredited Professional Trustees (APPT). These can be either Co-trustees as part of a Trustee board (including Chair of Trustees), or by providing a Professional Corporate Sole Trustee.

Our experienced Trustees have combined pensions experience of over 100 years. The even better news is that we come from “commercial” backgrounds and understand the needs of Sponsors to de-risk and reduce costs to either

  • accelerate progress towards “Buy-out” and, or
  • provide an expert governance team to support a low-risk run-on strategy.

HS Trustees are fully independent and therefore are happy to work with your existing administrators, actuaries, pension lawyers, investment consultants and auditors.

Environmental, Social and Governance, including Climate Change

HS Trustees is committed to assisting pension schemes take their ESG responsibilities seriously in a practical way. This includes ensuring small schemes know the value of their relationship with their fund managers and the ability this gives them to address specific issues through engagement as well as working with the largest schemes to maximise the impact of their actions to address climate change. This has led to HS Trustees being instrumental in driving new approaches for pension schemes and being shortlisted for the PMI award for Innovation in Trusteeship.

HS Trustees has committed resources to work with experts in the areas of Stewardship, Climate Change, Diversity (including the #ethnicitypaygap), Social issues (including #Foodiscare) and is supportive of industry collaboration, including being involved in, and driving, new groups to address specific issues.
